A Letter to My Daughter

Dear Yani,

Do you know how much I love you? Can it even be measured? What system can contain the amount of love I have for you?

My greatest accomplishment. My legacy.

Oftentimes I stare at you while you are asleep and think, “Wow. I made this.”

I am in awe of you.

Oftentimes I wonder what you will be like as a toddler, child, teenager and as an adult.

Will you be kind? Loving? Smart?

Will you have my sarcasm and witty humor or your father’s love for learning?

Whatever you will be, you will always be perfect to me…simply because you are mine.

My love for you knows no bounds.

You are the reason I can be called a mother. It is my greatest honor.

I apologize in advance for the mistakes I will make. You are my first (and probably my only) child so I am learning and experimenting with you.

I am your biggest fan. I will always be there for you.

Your first (and every) crush…

Your first (and every) heartbreak…

Your wedding…

The birth of every grandchild…

I will be there.

My heart has room for your mistakes. You already have my grace and forgiveness.

I pray God will give me the wisdom to help you find your purpose and encourage you in it.

You are my greatest adventure.

Love always and forever (even beyond my living days on Earth),
